Edith J Nichols

She was born on June 20, 1924 in Lowder, IL, the daughter of the late Roy C. and Edith M. (Weiland) Wilkerson. She married Robert C. Nichols on Feb. 19, 1944 in Springfield and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker and a very active member of Asbury Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son Roger (wife Mary) Nichols of Council Bluffs, IA; 2 grandchildren, Erin Nichols of California and Dana Nichols-Bishop of Council Bluffs, IA; 2 great-grandchildren, Aislinn and Lilly Bishop, both of Council Bluffs, IA; a sister, Mildred Vieria of Springfield; 3 brothers, Roy Wilkerson and Robert Wilkerson, both of Springfield, and Thomas Wilkerson of Osage Beach, MO.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Catherine Wilkerson-May and Margaret “Peggy” Wilkerson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Per her wishes, her remains were donated to SIU School of Medicine. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1 pm at Asbury Methodist Church, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury Methodist Church.
