
He was born on March 23, 1917 in Springfield, the son of the late George H. and Florence H. (Binney) Cartwright. He married Miriam F. Foutch in December of 1940 in Kahokia, MO and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2012.
Ed served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a repairman for National Cash Register and was also a private plane pilot. He and his wife enjoyed travelling in the RV.
He is survived by his sister Mary Pride of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joe and George Cartwright, and 2 sisters, Henrietta Blakeman and Vera Lewis.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Inurnment with military honors at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
