He was born on September 20, 1953, in Newark, NJ, the son of Edward and Eleanor (Erickson) Schofield. Edward married Ginny Huck on April 29, 1989, in Springfield, IL.
Edward graduated from high school in New York; Rutgers University in New Jersey; and earned his master’s degree from Loras College in Iowa. He was employed as an auditor for the State of Illinois. Edward was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for 36 years, and a member of Knights of Columbus Counsel 364. He loved trains, animals, music (he used to play guitar), and cheering on the Chicago Bears. Edward was known as a loving husband and father that was generous, supportive, and faithfully religious.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Peter Schofield.
Edward is survived by his wife, Ginny Schofield of Springfield; children, Em Schofield of Reno, NV and Aaron (Kylie) Schofield of Springfield.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, with Fr. Jeff Grant, celebrant.
Private Inurnment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
