Eileen "EJ" Jones

Eileen "EJ" Jones, 68, of Girard and formerly of Sherman and New Berlin, passed away at 4:07 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. EJ was born June 6, 1950 in Somerville, NJ, the daughter of Walter W. and Daisy Fuge Fellmann. She married Kenneth W. Jones at Holy Trinity in Raritan, NJ on December 27, 1969. EJ was a graduate of Somerville High School in 1968. She earned a certificate from Katharine Gibbs Business School. She held several positions over the years including at Horace Mann, Williamsville School District, and the State of Illinois Treasurers office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Central IL Corvette Club, Central IL Blood Bank, Sunset Lake Association and a Tuesday morning Bible study class. EJ was proud that she hiked several of the 14ers of the Rockies in Colorado and restored a log cabin into a loving warm home full of great memories. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, reading, camping, hiking, and organizing and planning parties and trips. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Carolyn Zelek. She is survived by her husband, Ken Jones of Girard; three children, Valerie (Tait) Cowen of Chatham, Mike (Rita) Jones of Antioch, and Kathy (Scott) Andring of Springfield; and six grandchildren, Dalton Andring, Jonathon Guerrero, Zander Cowen, Maisy Cowen, Nora Andring, and Jack Andring. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield.
