Elda Jane Smothers, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday December 18, 2014 at her residence. She was born on June 25, 1927 in Danville to Peter and Lillian Vandiver Stines. She married John Smothers in Danville in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by her daughter Glenda Smothers of Springfield, three grandchildren: Rita (Waylon) Brinkley of Springfield, Donnie Deatherage of Riverton and Jonathon Smothers of Springfield, four great grandchildren: Max and Cali Brinkley and Scott and Brianna Deatherage, one sister and two brothers. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Rhonda Deatherage and Melody Clement.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday December 22, 2014 At Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
