

Eldon L. “Butch” Hamilton, Jr., 60, of Springfield, died at 8:53 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. Eldon was born October 6, 1946 in Springfield, the son of Eldon L. and Ruth Marie Smith Hamilton, Sr. Eldon graduated from Feitshans Edison School in Springfield. He was employed at Lincoln Cab as a driver for 25 years. For the last 10 years, he was a manager at Lincoln Cab. Eldon was a big NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother: Tom Hamilton. He is survived by three sons: Eldon L. Hamilton, IV of Riverton, Chad Allan Hamilton of New Berlin and William Havenar of Springfield; two daughters: Tracy Ann Doerr of Pontiac, IL and Tanya Ann Hamilton of Springfield; father: Eldon L. Hamilton, Sr. of Rockaway Beach, MO; thirteen grandchildren; three brothers: Gary Hamilton of Spaulding, Robert (wife, Neda) Hamilton of Rockaway Beach, MO and Ric (wife, Rose) Hamilton of New Berlin; companion: Sharon Hamilton of Loami; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Ceremonies will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Following the memorial service, there will be a gathering for family and friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Eagle Club #4361, 1146 E. Lincoln, Riverton.
