

Eleanor Ann Burtle Frank, 85, of Springfield, passed away March 1, 2017 at her residence, after a brief battle with cancer. Eleanor was born October 30, 1931 in Springfield, the daughter of Harry J. and Mary Ryan Burtle. She married Frederick Scherber Frank on November 17, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Divernon, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James R. and Robert J. Burtle; and twin grandsons, Nicholas and Noah Frank. She graduated with honors from Ball Township High School, then Lincoln Land Community College. Eleanor was a charter member of the Church of the Little Flower, St. Therese Guild, where she was a past President, St. Joseph's Home Coterie, the Springfield Art Association, where she served on the Board of Directors, and Island Bay Yacht Club. She was a former officer in St. Louise de Marillac Guild, Catholic Daughters of America and the Springfield Deanery Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for Pastoral Care at Little Flower Church. Eleanor was an active volunteer for many civic organizations. She was a former member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Surviving are her husband, Fred S.; two sons, J. Stephen (Kathy) of Springfield and John (Shari) of Fishers, IN; three daughters, C.Ann (Dean) Dietrich of Wausau, WI, Janet (John; deceased) Dondanville of Clarkston, MI, and Mary (Kevin) Riordan of Dousman, WI; and two sisters, Mary B. Hartung of Springfield and Eileen Burtle (Bernard Gottner) of Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Sarah Dietrich (John) Amrein, Dr. Kathleen Dietrich (Regina) Curran, Mike (Lisa) Dietrich, Chris Dondanville, Matt Dondanville, Peter Dondanville, Ryan Frank, Reagan Frank, Kelly Riordan, Kate Riordan; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. An additional visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m. at Church of the Little Flower. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Church of the Little Flower with Rev. Allen M. Kemme, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Glenarm, IL.
