

She was born on June 17, 1930, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Marie G. (Bernasky) Mostaka. Ellie married Frank Butchek on August 26, 1950, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1995.
Ellie attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and graduated from Lanphier High School in 1948. She went on to work for Illinois Bell and then was employed for 29 ½ years in data input with the IL Secretary of State’s transportation department, retiring in 1996. Ellie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Blue Ridge boat club. She enjoyed boating, skiing, water tournaments, bowling, and karate. Ellie was a fan of polka and big band music, especially the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheryl Parkinson; and brother, George J. Mostaka.
Ellie is survived by her sons, Gary C., and Gregory L. Butchek, both of Springfield; grandchildren, Joseph C. Butchek, Jennie (John) Nichols-Butchek, and Shem Foster; four great-grandchildren, Summer, Theron, Kenton, and Leandra; and a few nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Graveside Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Calvary Cemetery, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
