Elinor J. Tschauder

Elinor was born on December 6, 1931 to Henry and Cordelia Suhling of Bunker Hill, IL. She attended school in Bunker Hill and Gillespie High School.

She worked for the State of Illinois before starting her career as a mom. She later spent nearly twenty years with Horace Mann Insurance. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and very active in the Alter Guild and bible study groups. She helped with meals on wheels, and volunteered as an usher at UIS auditorium and at the Muni.

Elinor married Max Tschauder on October 19, 1963. Max went to prepare their heavenly home in 2003. She is survived by her son Douglas (wife Sarah) and their two boys, Christopher and Zachary; and her daughter Susan (husband Steve) Bowden and their children Grant and Jamie. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris Karnes and Patty Viehweg, four nieces and four nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran, 2477 W. Washington, Springfield. The family will receive friends from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
