Elizabeth A. Alewelt

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Alewelt, 81, of Springfield, passed away at 1:47 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014 at her residence. Betty was born December 9, 1932 in Springfield, the daughter of Herman J. and Anna E. Reynolds Oger. She married Robert C. Alewelt on October 27, 1951 in Springfield. Betty was a graduate of Feitshans High School in 1951. She enjoyed life as a homemaker caring for her family until 1978 when she went to work for District 186 as a cafeteria manager. She retired in 1996 from Enos Elementary School. Betty was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and Ministry of Prayer. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Helen Gibbons, Mary A. Denning, and Bertha Rader; and four brothers, Louis Oger, Thomas Oger, John Oger, and Al Oger. She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Alewelt of Springfield; five sons, George C. (wife, Donna) Alewelt of Rochester; Thomas R. (wife, Pennie) Alewelt of AZ, Michael D. Alewelt of Springfield, Ronald J. (wife, Karen) Alewelt of Chatham, and Alan J. (wife, Kim) Alewelt of Rochester; four grandchildren, Ashley E. Eubank, Kyle, Rylee, and Connor Alewelt; one brother, Bill Oger of Vandalia, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 North Milton Ave., Springfield, IL 62702 with Rev.
