Elizabeth "Betty" Griffin, 86, of Springfield, died at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at her home. Betty was born August 7, 1929 in Creal Springs, IL, the daughter of Ralph C. and Marie Robinson Turner. Betty graduated from Creal Springs High School and earned her master's degree from S.I.U. in Carbondale. She was employed as a teacher with the Mascoutah, Gillespie and Springfield School Districts. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoying her dog Misty, and playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Margaret "Bobbie" Holland. She is survived by her three daughters, Anita "Bitsy" (husband, Richard) Duhon of Lake Charles, LA, Melanie (husband, Colin) Jacobs of Sherman, and Jeanette (husband, Hank) Duelm of West Lake, LA; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Private family ceremonies were held.
