

Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Brown, 85, of Ephrata, WA, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Brookdale-Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Moses Lake, WA. Libby was born October 26, 1933, in Chattanooga, TN, the daughter of Clarence G. and Arlone Dappert Kramer. She was a graduate of Taylorville Sr. High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. After college, she worked in Taylorville, IL for the Breeze-Courier Newspaper and then for many years in Springfield, IL for Franklin Life Insurance Co. Afterwards, she worked part-time as a receptionist and secretary for a medical office before entering full-time retirement. Shortly after that, as a hobby, Libby bought a laptop computer, subscribed to AOL and eventually joined Facebook where she spent much time corresponding with friends and family, and playing Spider Solitaire. She was also a huge Dr. Phil fan and watched the program daily. While not on her laptop she and her husband were season passholders of the Springfield Municipal Opera. She also loved 40s and 50s music and was proficient on the piano. Libby had a habit of singing, "ooo eee oo ahh ahh ting tang walla walla bing bang". Libby was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 50 years and served in various capacities as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President, and President of her local chapters. She was preceded in death by her husband Gregory R. Brown; and her step-brother John Kramer. She is survived by her son William Charles Brown, who lives in Ephrata, WA and his wife, Melinda Carol Brown; her granddaughter, Autumn Brown McArthur, her husband, Morgan McArthur both of Port Orchard, WA; her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Kinsey, Calliope; her granddaughter, Ambre Brown Taylor, her husband, Justin Taylor both of Orting, WA; and her great-grandson, Jackson After her husbands passing in July 2010, Libby elected to move from Springfield out to Washington State where she was taken care of by her son and his wife for almost 8 years prior to her spending the last 15 months of her life at the assisted living center. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
