Elizabeth Ann McDevitt

Elizabeth was born May 24, 1938, in Dawson, the daughter of William G. Mulcahy and Elizabeth M. Mulcahy. She married Robert E. McDevitt on June 16, 1962, in Buffalo, IL; he preceded her in death on March 16, 1998.

Elizabeth graduated from Tri-City High School in 1956 and was employed as a New Berlin High School bus driver from 1976 to 1996. She also worked as a secretary for the Sangamon County Fair from 1980 to 2015. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary’s Church in New Berlin and the Illinois Shorthorn Lassies from 1960 to 2000. She enjoyed participating in cattle shows throughout IL and KY, but her biggest accomplishment was raising her three daughters. Elizabeth also enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Colleen (Jeff) Chaffin of Morgan, TX, Kathy (Dennis) Eastin of Gretna, VA, and Maureen (John) Bossert of New Berlin; grandchildren, Garrett (Callie Grace), Logan, and Ashley Cline, Maggie Chaffin, Dale and Callie Eastin, and Jordan, Brittan, and Caden Bossert; one great-granddaughter, Teagan Cline; four siblings, Bill (Margaret) Mulcahy of Des Moines, IA, Mary Mulcahy and Helen Guernsey, both of Buffalo, IL, and Leonard Mulcahy of Jackson Heights, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Mary’s Church, 404 E. Birch St., New Berlin with Rev. Ron Lorilla, celebrant. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be limited capacity.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
