

She was born in Kearny, New Jersey, on March 23, 1926, to Samuel Wyllie and Elizabeth Doig Wyllie, who immigrated from Scotland in the early 1900s. Elsie had a sister, Isabelle, and three brothers, James, John, and Samuel.
A World War II bride, Elsie married Lieutenant Robert K. Unglaub of the U.S. Army on July 31, 1943. While her husband served in the war, she lived near her brother John in San Francisco. The couple was married for 63 years, and she will be buried next to him at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
A devoted homemaker, Elsie enjoyed tending to her garden, reading, and playing bridge in her free time. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield for over 60 years.
Elsie is survived by her two children, Robert K. Unglaub Jr. and Ronald K. Unglaub; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will host a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, followed by a reception at 4:00 p.m. at Buchanan Chapel at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago, IL, with Pastor Nanette Sawyer officiating.
