Elizabeth M. Vincent, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at St. John’s Hospice. Elizabeth was born on January 31, 1928, in Rushville, IL, the daughter of Cleve and Bernice (Morris) Jones. Elizabeth, after over thirty years of service with the State of Illinois Vital Records Department, retired as a supervisor. She enjoyed gardening, she worked diligently keeping her gardens free of any weeds, bowling, and loved dogs especially her Labradors, she especially loved her family, and enjoyed organizing the annual Jones family reunion, and tracking her family genealogy.
Surviving are her children; Loren “Kent” (Gail “Poppy”) Vincent, Sharon (Bill) Hamilton, all of Springfield, Michael Cleve (Stephanie) Vincent of Boca Raton, FL, Teresa “T.C.” (Mike) McBride, David (Suzie) Vincent, of Springfield as well. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, her 2 sisters; Irilla Jones Vaughn, and Mary Jones Strong Gerdes, as well as numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael Leroy Vincent, brothers; Charles “Mutt”, Paul “Buck”, Cleve “Bud”, and Dean, her sisters; Bernice, Pearl, Bessie, and her past husband Clifford “Red” Vincent.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013, from 3-6 pm at Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St Springfield IL 62703. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, at 9:30 am, at the funeral home with Rev. Levi Vincent officiating the services.
