

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jacob, Samuel and Charles Albright, sisters Mary Sexton, Margaret Ciotti, and Martha Mehan, his sweetheart, Joy Kern, and his beloved Maltese babies, Abby and Nikki.
Ellis is survived by his children, Penny Nickel of Springfield, Daniel of Aurora, CO, Brenda of Greenfield, IN, Nancy of St. Louis, MO and Mark of Pleasant Plains; Grandchildren Adrienne (Bob) Grover and Lee (Leslie) Nickel of Springfield, Lindsey, Cody and Lilly Albright of Pleasant Plains, Stefanie (Zee) Hitzelberger and Dan Albright of Kansas City, KS; great-grandchildren Malorie, Nathan, and Caleb Grover, Aiden Nickel, Ethan, Anneliese, Elias, Isaac Hitzelberger and Gracelyn Albright; sisters Geraldine Dennison of Greenville, IL and Elizabeth (Larry) Ryner of Springfield, several nieces and nephews.
Ellis served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a contractor in the Springfield area for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was an avid fisherman, loved vegetable gardening, spending time with his children and grandchildren and his many friends.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield where visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 9 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. The funeral will also be at the funeral home, with Rev. Louis Kunz officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends, following graveside services, will be at American Legion Post #32, 1120 Sangamon Ave, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to Hancock Regional Hospice in Greenfield, IN.
