

Eloise M. Steele, 92, of Springfield, passed away at 2:33 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at her home. Eloise was born February 9, 1925 in Springfield, the daughter of Lewis and Nellie Newton Shelton. She married Ray Field Steele in June of 1957 in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 1982. Eloise retired from her position as an account technician at the Illinois Department of Revenue after over 30 years of service. She was one of Jehovahs Witnesses. She enjoyed bowling and dancing. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Jackson; and all of her siblings, Elizabeth Ross, Lillian Robinson, Lois Shelton, Mary Moses, and Robert Shelton. She is survived by her son, Marvin (Janice) Jackson of Springfield; grandson, Jamerson Holloway of Las Vegas, NV; two granddaughters, Georgyaleen (Mack) Holman of Indianapolis, IN and Sheila (Dennis) Hanson of Cincinatti, OH; nephew, Robert (wife, Rebecca) Moses, Jr. of Springfield; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. The family will host a Memorial Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Kingdom Hall Jehovahs Witnesses, 3076 Normandy Rd., Springfield with Rodney Hodge, Sr. officiating. Private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
