

Emaline Kramp, 89, of Sherman, died at 2:25 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2005 at Villa Healthcare East. Emaline was born April 9, 1916 in Alexander, IL the daughter of Guy William and Mary Ann Bergschneider Bender. She married Leonard Kramp on June 21, 1947 in Alexander, IL. Mrs. Kramp went to a one-room schoolhouse called “Little Hope”, Ursuline Academy and Brown’s Business College. Emaline did oil paintings because of a nun by the name of Sr. Antonio, her art teacher. She was a 50-year member of the Alexander Women’s Club and attended Church of the Visitation in Alexander. She sang in the church choir as well as many weddings and funerals. She was the top secretary and office manager of Carl W. Hobbs Electrical Contractor until 1949. She and Len left Springfield to take over the farm in Alexander that had belonged to her father. Emaline’s favorite holidays were Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas. The 4th of July was a family homecoming, she would decorate and prepare dinner for 20-30 people and think nothing of it. Her favorite pets were farm animals, dogs and horses, favorite places were Rome, Vatican, Assisi and Pisa as well as Florence, Italy and hobbies included needlework, singing, playing the piano and organ and the Women’s Club. Her devotion was to whatever her lot in life was at any particular time of duty. Emaline was an outstanding mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elizabeth and one brother, Anthony. She is survived by her husband: Leonard of Sherman; one son: Paul A. (wife, Carol) Kramp of Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter: Maria Lisa (husband, Steven) Lockwood of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Myrtle Shewmaker and Marian Doyle both of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews. Body is being donated to science for Alzheimer’s research. Private Concelebrated Memorial Mass will be held with Reverend Donald Meehling Principal Celebrant.
