

Emilia was born May 12, 1946, in the Philippines, the daughter of Emilio Acosta and Claudia Vendiola, and adopted daughter of Juan Vendiola and Concepcion Directo Vendiola Orizal. She married Dennis Kevin Rogers on April 28, 1978, in Hawaii.
Emilia earned her master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree in Counseling from Bradley University. She began her career as an educator in the Philippines with the “Kinders,” and although she worked in other professions as a librarian and counselor, her love for teaching continued after retirement when she was employed as a guest teacher at many schools throughout Springfield. Emilia was a member of Cathedral Church of the Immaculate Conception where she served as a Eucharistic minister, usher, and lector. She enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, watching the Sound of Music, King of Kings, and the Ten Commandments, and taking care of her dog and two cats.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Claudia Toquero; infant son, Andre Rogers; tatang, Juan “Johnny” Vendiola; and mama, Concepcion Directo Vendiola Orizal.
Emilia is survived by her husband, Dennis Rogers of Springfield; her children, Llermo Vendiola Rogers, Juel Vendiola Rogers, Alda (Chris) Vendiola Hughes, Alexis (Amber) Rogers, and Eric (Rachel Otwell) Rogers; her grandchildren, Colleen, Brenna, Eanna, Tiphany, Alexus, Marissa, Ian, Leilani, Olivia, Owen and Bernadette; half-brother, Daniel (Ranne Rose) Toquero; nieces and nephews, Danielle Ingrid, Daniel Marion and Daniel Wyett Toquero; and many cousins and aunties in the Philippines.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
A memorial mass will be planned for a later date.
