

Emma Giancarli Pianezza, loving wife, beloved sister and amazing mother, 63, of Springfield, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 20, 2016 at home. Emma was born March 6, 1953 in Montreal, Canada, the daughter of Giuseppe and Olga Giancarli. She married Anthony Pianezza on June 30, 1979, in Montreal. Emma was a graduate of McGill University in Montreal where she earned a B.S. of Physical Therapy and a specialty certificate in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She was a Physical Therapist for Springfield School District #186, Hope School, Early Learning Center, and SPARC. She also served as the physical therapist for Braveheart. She was a fantastic cook feeding long time friends and hungry strangers, spoke four languages, and had a child like enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, theatre, dancing, and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her father; and two aunts, Maria Giancarli and Lucia Giancarli. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Pianezza of Springfield; sons, Patrick Pianezza of Huntingon Beach, CA and Paul Pianezza of Culver City, CA; mother, Olga Giancarli of Montreal; sister, Dora (Jeff) Evans of Davie, FL; and two nieces, Sara and Nina. Her zest for life lives on through the lives of those she touched. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N 20th St, Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola, celebrant. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
