He was born in the Philippines on July 9, 1936, the son of David and Eulogia Bautista Eusebio.
Ernesto studied at Far Eastern University in the Philippines, St. Barnabas and Mount Sinai Hospitals in Minneapolis, MN, and at the University of Minnesota. Ernesto was awarded Best Doctors in America 1996-1997 and was a Diplomat in general surgery and colorectal surgery. He enjoyed further studies in his field in the development of medical and surgical technology. Ernesto was also a member of FACS and FASCRS. He was a Partner with the Springfield Clinic.
Ernesto, or “Ernie” and “Net”, as he is affectionately called by friends and family, had a passion for music. He had a beautiful tenor voice and played the violin and viola. He matriculated at The Chicago Institute of Violin Making after retiring from his medical practice and hand made many violins and violas. He traveled the world and served as a medical missionary in Kenya. He was a member of the Senior Choir at West Side Christian Church.
Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents; son, Earl James; brother, Arturo Eusebio; and sister, Lourdes Tacorda.
He is survived by his sons, Ernesto Cruz (Donna) Eusebio, Eduardo (Jennifer) Eusebio, Ephraim Eusebio, and Eleazar Eusebio; daughter, Eleanor Sangalang, and their loving mother, Theresita Cruz Eusebio; grandchildren, Alexandria, Jordan, Noah, Christian, Benjamin, Brooke, Branon, Caleb, Lily Marie, Ian, Remy, Asher and Bodhi; great-grandchildren, Enrique, Anthony, Justin, Juniper, Josiah, and Zuzana; and siblings, Sonia Iskander, Priscilla, Ruby, and David Eusebio, and Celia Ambion.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at West Side Christian Church, 2850 Cider Mill Ln., Springfield, IL 62702.
Funeral Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at West Side Christian Church, with Pastor Eddie Lowen officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 1441 Monument Ave., Springfield, IL 62707.
