She was born on January 9, 1927, in Peru, IN, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Hartman) Barr. Faye married Walter Shiffer, Sr. He preceded her in death, on March 21, 1994.
Faye worked as a clerk for the IL Secretary of State, from which she retired. She was a member of Lakeside Christian Church. Faye enjoyed crocheting, reading, and word search books, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, George, Elsworth, Paul, Ralph, and Floyd Barr, Mickey Dorsett, Jessie Gattis, Lillian Ligget, and Velma Tucker; stepson, Walter Shiffer, Jr.; and stepdaughter, Karen Borrow.
Faye is survived by her daughters, Miriam (Rick) Bain of St. Peters, MO, and Betty Hoff and Paula Hoff, both of Springfield; stepdaughter, Pat Howie; grandchildren, Carla Dawson, Jackie Bain, and Erica (Joe) Godier; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Funeral at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jay Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
