She was born on April 17, 1942, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Robert and Eve Martindale. Evella married Harry “Bill” Buoy on September 24, 2002, in East Lansing, MI.
Evella worked as a substitute teacher at Blessed Sacrament School and was involved with the Step by Step day care center. She was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Evella enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling to Florida during the Fall and Winter seasons, and walking on the beach. She was known for her great love of dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Bruce Carey; and grandson, Kobe Carey.
Evella is survived by her husband, Bill Buoy of Springfield; sons, Brian (Carla) Carey of Pleasant Plains and Craig (Carla) Carey of Springfield; grandchildren, Christy, Codie, Nickie, Colt, and Bre-anna; 12 great-grandchildren; and stepdaughter, Stacey (Dean) Graven of Springfield.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the ceremony at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
