

Evelyn A. Wallace, 93, of Springfield died at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on April 18, 1914 in Girard, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey B. and Anna Lincoln Leinard Stone. She married Walter Wayne Wallace; he preceded her in death on May 12, 1994. She graduated from Girard Township High School and worked as a beautician at Blue Beauty Shop, which she later owned and it was moved to her home. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, William Wayne Wallace; five brothers: Roy, George, Roscoe, Harvey and Lester Stone and four sisters: Ora Briggs, Mae Brown, Margaret Johnson and Blanche Harnley. She is survived by two sons: Robert (wife, Judith) Wallace of Sarasota, Florida; Joseph Wallace, Sr. of Chatham; two daughters: Carol Greenwood of Springfield and Jean Wallace of Clinton; six grandchildren: Carol (husband, Kevin) Sponagle, Richard (wife, Kate) Wallace, Ronald (wife, Ana) Wallace, Roger Wallace, Joseph Wallace, Jr. and Sean Wallace; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family welcomes friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga, V.F. officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2007 at. St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga, V.F. celebrant. Following the funeral mass cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Burial will be held at a later date at Girard Township Cemetery.
