Faye was born August 30, 1939, the only child of John A. and Noma (Hall) Berry. She met Donald R. Garvue while working at the Illinois State Museum and Don was a seminary student at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Springfield. They were married August 10, 1962, here in Springfield and walked in locked step until he preceded her in death March 31, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Maddie and niece Lisa.
Faye was the perfect example of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She also had the heart of a servant, working alongside her husband in the ministry, volunteering within the congregations they served. Faye served as the church secretary at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Louisville, KY and volunteered at Baptist East hospital.
Pastor Don and Faye returned to Springfield where they continued their ministry and volunteer work at Trinity Lutheran Church and School. Faye had a passion for education at both the day school at Trinity and Springfield Lutheran High School. She was an active and dedicated member of the Ladies Aid and faithful member of the Tuesday Morning Bible Class. Her church family was especially important to her, and she cherished each and every friendship gained there. Faye was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, something she shared with Don.
Surviving are her two sons; Eric (Kimberly) Garvue of Springfield, and Bryce (Nicole) Garvue of Jay, FL., her five granddaughters: Hallie, Miriam, Rebekah, Hanna (fiancé Brian Smith) Garvue and Emma Combs, grandson Zac Combs, nephew Steve (Julie) Unruh, and niece Linda Okafor.
