Florence "Flossie" Smith Bunn

Florence "Flossie" Smith Bunn, 98, of Springfield, died at 4:14 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at her home. Florence was born on August 24, 1918 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Erick and Linnea Holmquist Lindgren. She married Ray F. Smith on December 4, 1937; he preceded her in death in 1991. Florence then married Willard Bunn, Jr. on July 30, 1994; he preceded her in death in 2002. Florence loved her family and enjoyed traveling with them. She also loved completing crossword puzzles. Florence formerly served as president of the Mary Lawrence Circle of King's Daughters, the Springfield Newcomers Club, and the Springfield Art Association. She was a former board member of the Springfield Garden Club and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter B.F. Florence was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Sgt. Jack Erick "Bud" Lindgren. She is survived by her sons, Richard "Dick" (Carol) Smith of Sedona, AZ and William "Bill" (Terri) Smith of Locust Grove, VA; daughter, Jackie Smith of Springfield, IL; step-children, Willard (Cissy) Bunn, III of Lake Forrest, IL, Robert (Sarah) Bunn of Springfield, IL, and Octavia "Tavie" (Peter) Casper of Springfield; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to: Benld Adopt-A-Pet, P.O. Box 53, Benld, IL 62009.
