Floyd R. Blackard

He was born on July 1, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, the son of William L. and Jane L. (Harris) Blackard. Floyd married Roberta “Bobbi” Yardley on August 11, 1962, in Ferguson, MO.

Floyd attended Central Methodist College, minoring in social studies, Latin, and psychology, and majored in political science. He earned his Master of Divinity from Eden Seminary. Floyd was a pastor of the United Methodist Church for 69 years. He was chair of the board for Midwest Mission Distribution Center, a member of Walk to Emmaus, Marriage Encounter, Engaged Encounter, Lions Club, Kiwanis and conference Boards and Committees of the UMC Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference. Floyd enjoyed traveling, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, and attending the St. Louis Muny. He was known as compassionate, caring, intelligent, and was faithful to God, church, and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pamala (Martyn) Adams; and brother, Paul Blackard.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Bobbi Blackard of Springfield; daughter, Rev. Deb (Brent) Talbott; son, Jim (Lori) Blackard; sister-in-law, Pat Blackard; grandchildren, Brandon (Nancy) Blackard, Ryan (Jackie) Nothnagle, Jared Blackard, Michael (Lyndzi) Nothnagle, Chance (Kirsten) Blackard, Tyler Blackard, Sarah (Emery) Mazo, Amos Talbott, and Alice Talbott; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.

Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Riverton First United Methodist Church, 429 E. Lincoln St., Riverton, with Revs. Meredith Brown, Jessica Baldyga, DS, Deb Talbott, Jim Blackard, and Keith Anderson officiating.
