

Floyd Russell Shade, 64, of Springfield, passed away at 10:48 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 in the emergency room at St. John’s Hospital. Floyd was born November 23, 1937 the son of Everett and Pearl Lynch Shade in Pleasant Hill. He married Judy Wilson in 1961. He graduated from Barry High School in 1955. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1956 to 1964. Early in his life he was a meat cutter at Superway Food in Pittsfield. He then became owner of Shades Bi-Rite in Rushville. He was an Assistant Manager of Eagles Food Stores in Springfield, owner of C&B Antiques and he also had a very active sales career with Lincoln Mercury Auto Sales. He was member of the Jaycees where he was President 1969-1970. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers. He is survived by his wife: Judy Shade of Springfield; a son: Bret (wife, Levette) Shade of Chatham; a daughter: Cynthia (husband, Dr. Scott) Brown of West Hartford, CT.; mother: Pearl Shade of Pittsfield; two sisters; Joyce Ackers of Pittsfield and Marge Kleinlein of St. Louis, MO.; three grandsons: Jared Brown, Adam and Jacob Shade; two granddaughters: Brianna Shade and Nicole Brown. Friends may call from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Services will be there at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002 with Reverend John Kay officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made for a trust fund that has been established for his grandchildren’s education in c/o Judy Shade.
