Francis M. (Brownie) Brownlow, 94, of Auburn, formerly of Springfield, died at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at his home. Brownie was born October 4, 1920 in Chapin, the son of Grover C. and Carolyn Minert Brownlow. He married Helen M. Sutton on September 17, 1946 in Springfield. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed as a meat cutter for A & P. Brownie enjoyed vegetable and rose gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sr. Barbara Brownlow and Cecilia Klimas. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Peg) Brownlow of Auburn; sons, Tom (wife, Sandy) Brownlow of Glenarm and Michael Brownlow of Springfield; daughter, Maryann Brownlow of Springfield; granddaughter, Tara (husband, Jeff) Brownlow-Hunter of Victoria, TX; several step-grandchildren; and two nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
