

He was born on September 11, 1925 in Bloomington, IL the son of the late August F. and Myrtle Erma (Cullers) Glatz. He married Dorothy Olean Lane on September 12, 1946 in Springfield and she preceded him in death on February 8, 1998.
Mr. Glatz served in the U.S. Army 106th infantry. He was a veteran of WWII, and served in Germany at the Battle of the Bulge. He was co-owner of Glatz Brothers Wholesale Food Brokers for 35 years and later worked for the State of IL Dept of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for 10 years. He was a member of the Springfield Noon Lions Club with 50 years of service, the Masonic St. Paul’s Lodge No. 500 with 62 years of membership, and a lifetime member of the Springfield Ansar Shrine Temple. He also served as Packmaster of Cub Scouts Pack 14.
He is survived by 3 sons, Frank Robert Glatz, Jr. of the Cayman Islands, Dan L. Glatz of St. Joseph, IL, and Keith K. Glatz of Coral Springs, FL, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Ann Matthews Glatz of the Cayman Islands, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a sister Sue Anne Fisher of Broken Arrow, OK, 18 nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Helen Hellner.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, August William and Jack Norman Glatz.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm with Masonic services at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Reg Mills officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
