

Frank was born August 2, 1951 in New Rochelle, NY. His parents Arnold and Elaine are deceased. He graduated Westchester, NY high school in 1969. He received his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in Environmental Science and Resource Management. After graduation in 1973, Frank went to graduate school at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He enrolled in the Master of Science in Plant and Soil Science program. After completing that degree, Frank entered yet another program and secured his Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering.
Frank entered the Doctoral program in 1983 and received a PHD in Civil Engineering. He was coauthor of numerous scientific and technical articles. After he completed his doctorate, he taught at Old Dominion in Norfolk, VA, as an Assistant Professor, civil engineering. Frank moved to Springfield in 1989 and joined Hanson Engineers.
As an only child, Frank cherished all the many friendships he developed and maintained during his lifetime. And in January 2001, Frank says “I hit the jackpot when I met the people at the Bridge Club of Springfield and they changed my life”. Frank was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and achieved the rank of Silver Life Master. He was the Bridge Club’s webmaster and devoted many hours to maintaining the Club’s computers and installing new software. Frank was a valued bridge partner and a respected opponent. We love and miss you Frank.
In honor of Frank, the Bridge Club has established the Frank Tirsch Memorial Fund for Bridge Education. Donations to the Memorial Fund may be made the Bridge Club of Springfield, 3900 Wood Duck Drive, Springfield, IL 62711.
