Gene "Bud" Paul Adams

Gene was born December 26, 1940, in Springfield, IL, the son of Grant Adams and Margaret Bogenschutz Adams. He married Josephine “JoLynn” Nierhoff on November 16, 1968, in Springfield.

Gene graduated from St. James Trade School in 1958 where he studied carpentry. He later served his country during the Vietnam War. Gene was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was self employed as a general contractor operating under the name of Builders, specializing in residential construction. Gene always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan (husband, Lawrence) Boarman; brothers, Grant, Joseph, and Jay (wife, Holly) Adams; and brother-in-law, Jack Nierhoff .

Gene is survived by his wife, JoLynn Adams of Springfield; sons, Kevin (Helen) Adams of Sherman and Troy (Kristi) Adams of Rochester; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Sebastian; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 East Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Richard Chiola and Rev. George Nellikunnel, concelebrants.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
