
George L. “Corky” Crawford III, 51, of Lewisville, Texas, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 7:12 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2002 at St. John’s Hospice. George was born May 15, 1950 the son of George L. Crawford, Jr. and Patricia A. Schumann Crawford in Urbana, IL. Mr. Crawford graduated from Springfield High School in 1968 and was the founding president of SAHIMS. He graduated from Sangamon State University in 1977. He had been employed with the Sangamon County Juvenile Office from 1970-1973. Mr. Crawford was also employed as an investigator for the Fair Employment Office in Springfield prior to his relocation in Texas. he worked for Southwestern Bell and Arch Wireless in Texas and was a technical support specialist. He was preceded in death by his father, George L. Crawford, Jr. in June 2001 and his grandparents. He is survived by his fiancee: Michele Ansbach of Tamaqua, PA; mother: Patricia A. Crawford of Springfield; stepmother: Patareka Crawford of Ft. Meyers, FL; four sisters: Cathy R. Crawford, Nancy J. Crawford, Leanna J. Tomlin, LouAnn Henderson all of Springfield; one nephew Chad Richardson of Chatham; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 10-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002 with Reverend Keith Stanford officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Hospital Hospice Program 800 E.
