George Wilfred Hannah, 78, of Springfield, passed away at 7:25 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2001 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard. He was born April 27, 1922 the son of Edward and Janet McCafferty Hannah in Springfield, IL. He married Lela M. Crouse on November 30, 1946 at St. Patrick's Church in Springfield. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1987. Mr. Hannah was a machinist for Fiat-Allis for 36 years and retired in 1978. He was active in the Cy Young Little League and Pony League, Knights of Columbus Council #364, and was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Lela, a daughter: Georgia Lee Hannah in 1964, a son: Robert Hannah in 1998; three brothers: Paul, Thomas, and James E, Hannah, Sr., and five sisters: Janet Hannah, Mary Madelyn Carter, Margaret Genevieve Seaborn, Anna Thelma Hannah, Margaret Hannah. Mr. Hannah is survived by three daughters: Donna (husband-Dennis) Rogles of Warrenton, MO, Deborah (husband-Bill) Rummer of Springfield, IL, and Elizabeth (husband-Thomas) Vander Drift of Springfield; three sons: Paul (wife-Kathy) Hannah of Springfield, Ted (wife-Vicki) Hannah of Rochester, IL, and Joseph (wife-Mari Kay) Hannah of Kernersville, NC; one sister: Marie Shehan of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick School Endowment Fund 1800 S. Grand Ave. East, P.O. Box 4302, Springfield, IL 62703. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2001. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church with the Very Revs. John A. Renken, V.G. and Very Rev. Kenneth C.
