

George Moxon Hart, 94, of New Berlin died at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. John's Hospice. George was born January 29, 1919 in New Berlin, the son of George Samuel and Elsa Moxon Hart. He married Edith V. Shupe on December 31, 1940 in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2002. He was a graduate of Springfield High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Animal Husbandry from Blackburn College. George proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sangamon County Farm Bureau, the POLKA club, the Eagles, and the VFW Post 755. George loved to dance, sing karaoke, fish, tend to his vegetable garden, and travel, especially to places such as Florida where he could gather shells. He appreciated the performing arts, enjoyed spending time with his family and was a lifelong farmer. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Hart; and his sisters, Carmen Horton, Melba Chamblin, Lorna Shepherd, and an infant girl. George is survived by his four children, George R. (Linda) Hart of Pueblo West, CO, Moxon Eugene (Crystal) Hart of Missoula, MT, Congita (John) Farquhar of Waverly, Anita Morgan of Chatham; ten grandchildren, Christie (Dave) Warner, Cindy Hart, Charlotte (Kevin) Niewoehner, Todd Hart, Daniel Hart, John E. (Janet) Farquhar, Scott (Tricia) Farquhar, Monica Farquhar, Justin (Alison) Morgan, Jacinta (Dave) Giammarrusco; ten great grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Allread, Kaycie and Jessica Niewoehner, Dylan Hart, Jackson, Jenna, and Jordan Farquhar, Alexis and Logan Farquhar, and Amelia Giammarrusco; one great-great grandchild, Henry Allread; a brother-in-law, Bob Chamblin of Atlanta, GA; many nieces and nephews. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson, New Berlin. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran with Rev. Robert Barth officiating. Burial will follow in Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville.
