George Edgar Lyons

George Edgar Lyons, 73, of Buffalo, passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at his residence. George was born on June 15, 1943 in Springfield, the son of Russell and Sylvia Longest Lyons. George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He then proudly served his community as a firefighter for the Springfield Fire Department for more than 25 years. George enjoyed mushroom hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Mike) Smith of Dawson and Theresa Fabela-Gayton of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Tiffany (Casey) Matthews of Riverton, Jessica (Alex) Lyons of Dallas, TX, Megan (A.J.) Lyons of Buffalo, and Tom (Amanda) Lyons of Riverton; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. George donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Association for scientific research prior to ceremonies. The family will host a Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Springfield DAV, 25 Club Area, Springfield.
