

George was born on April 10, 1945, in Joliet, the son of George Joseph O’Ravis, Sr. and Jeanette Marie Delplace O’Ravis. He married Cheryl L. Hagemeier on September 14, 1971, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on October 11, 2018.
George served his country in the United States Navy and ILARNG. He earned an accounting degree from Sangamon State and worked with the State of IL as a Senior Revenue Auditor. He had a strict morning routine of attending the YMCA for a workout. George enjoyed comics, board games, 3-D printing, creating miniatures, and playing Dungeons & Dragons. George was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Patrick B. (wife, Lahni) O’Ravis of Chatham, IL; two daughters, Jennifer L. “Missy” (husband, Paul) Petersen of Springfield and Rustin A. (husband, Chris) Peak of Springfield; five grandchildren, Alexandra K. Nichols, Tyler A. and Paige N. Woods, Cameron Peak, and Brendon Petersen; three great-grandchildren, Justin and Jaxon Nichols, and Carter Woods; and two siblings, Larry T. O’Ravis of Springfield and Carolyn (husband, Ray) Kunz of Valencia, California.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Avenue West, Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
