

Georgia R. Bauer, 88, of Springfield, died at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. John's Hospital. Georgia was born February 25, 1928 in Pocahontas, AR, the daughter of W. Howard Ford and Cora L. Wheeler Tucker. She married John E. Bauer on March 8, 1946 in Flint, MI; he preceded her in death. Georgia earned her GED from Southeast High School in 1972 and worked for the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk's office for 20 years. She was also a beautician for 18 years. Georgia was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and assisted with their funeral luncheons. She also volunteered as a "Red Coat" at Memorial Medical Center for 10 years. Georgia enjoyed baking, cooking, the handwork of all kinds, playing BINGO and books on tape. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Wineland; one brother, Elmer E. Ford; and one nephew, Gordon Ford. She is survived by two sons, Harold E. Bauer and John "Mike" (Vicki) Bauer, all of Springfield; five grandchildren, Michelle (Ryan) Barton and John Michael (Valerie) Bauer II, both of Taylorville, Sarah (Scott) Robinson of Springfield, Lisa (Steve) Baines of Virden, and Denise Bauer of Royal Oak, MI; ten great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Brady, Christian, Kayla, Courtney, Owen, Reese, Trace, Wesley, and Renee; one sister, Selma E. (Felix) Whitted of Pocahontas, AR; two nephews, John and Tim Wineland; and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 10:45 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
