Georgia was born to her dear parents, Clarissa Milligan Cullen and George William Cullen, on July 6, 1945 in Springfield, Illinois. She cherished memories of her childhood and adolescence, during which she expressed her joie de vivre through tap dancing, swimming, needle arts, piano playing, roller skating, being on the student council and organizing service activities.
She particularly enjoyed her summers at Camp Kehonka in Wolfeboro, NH where the beauty of the pine trees, sparkling lake, and beautiful fields stirred her soul. She often won the camp prize, “the blue goose,” for being the most tidy and organized camper.
Georgia graduated from Stanford University with both an undergraduate degree in English and a Masters in Education, during which time she made many life-long friends and met and married her first husband, the late Eric Carlson. After graduation she spent three years working as a high school English teacher. She also acquired an MBA from the University of Chicago and her J.D. from Loyola University. She worked as an attorney specializing in patents at Hollister, Inc. from March 1974 until Feb 2008.
Georgia became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in April of 1978. Shortly thereafter she married her second husband, the late Benjamin Sembrano Llamzon, and gave birth to her two children. Her children were the joy of her life. She never spoke one harsh word to either child, and they will forever remember her as the gold standard for unconditional love, support, patience, kindness, and ever-cheerful devotion.
Georgia was a straight-A student in school and also in life. Her life included hardships and long periods of deep suffering at many junctures. The last battle of her life included a ten-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. During this time, she continued to maintain friendships, make many new friends, and uplift countless others with her continual good cheer.
Georgia loved Jesus Christ with her whole heart and was fully devoted to her church. She served in a variety of church callings including teacher, Stake Relief Society President, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, and full-time missionary. She made many friends in every congregation she was a part of, including congregations in Illinois, Utah, and North Carolina.
She was marked everywhere by her faith, kindness, and gentle nature. Georgia was infinitely charmed by her six surviving beloved grandchildren, Soren Llamzon, Meera Llamzon, Lydia Anne Darais, Mary Darais, Ammon Darais, and Clarissa Darais. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Swathi Namburi, her son-in-law, Abraham Darais, her sister, Dee Hershey, her brother, Steve Cullen, and her sister-in-law, Pam Cullen.
She is preceded in death by her parents and eldest sister, Kay Colby.
