Geraldine Francis Dorsey

She was born Jan. 31, 1935 in Macomb the daughter of Robert and Nellie Sherman Thrasher. She married Cecil Cordell Dorsey. She was preceded in death by a brother Larry Thrasher and a granddaughter Ashley Solomon.

Geraldine was a graduate of Macomb High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Western Illinois University. She taught art at Christian Elementary School and retired from Lawrence Adult Center. She was a 4H leader for 38 years and was a 4H judge in Taylorville. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, drawing, the Bible, playing piano and teaching children of all ages.

She is survived by her husband Cecil; three daughters, Karen Jameson, Cathy Solomon and Carol Green all of Springfield; two sons, Chuck Dorsey of Sherrard and John Dorsey of Perry; a sister, Pat Reed of Scobey, Mont.; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Friends may call Tuesday June 29, 2010 from 5 to 7:00 PM at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel where services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday June 30, 2010. Interment will follow at Dorsey-Browning Cemetery in Perry at 1:30 PM.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Foundation.
