Geraldine Sparhakel

Geraldine “Jeri” Sparhakel of Springfield died on November 14, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice. Jeri was born November 3, 1920 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of William S. and Myra Reynolds Thompson. She married John Sparhakel in Chicago on December 29, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She was the owner and operator of Jeri’s Beauty Shop in Lincoln for many years. Jeri moved to Springfield in 1989 and attended St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield. She will be sadly missed by two daughters: Suzy (husband, Bill) Creasey of Springfield and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Janice (husband, Joe Roman) Sparhakel of Cuba, IL; one granddaughter Kelli (husband, Greg) Lynch of Springfield, one grandson Dean (wife, Jeris) Creasey of Springfield, three great granddaughters, one great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit from 5- 8 pm on Friday, November, 16, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10 am with Rev. Robert Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Lincoln, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 687 E. Linton Ave., Springfield, IL 62703.
