

Gertrude “Trudy” Petty, 86, of Springfield, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center. Trudy was born January 2, 1918 in Springfield the daughter of Noah and Josephine T. Macklin Knotts. She married J.D. Petty, June 14, 1941; he preceded her in death October 23, 1993. Mrs. Petty was a homemaker and volunteered at St. John’s Samaritans for many years. She was a member of Christ the King Parish and Ursuline Alumni. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Woodrow and James Knotts and one sister: Mary Metzger. She is survived by three sisters: Virginia Dwyer of Chicago, Catherine Knotts of Chicago, Mildred “Mike” Meyer of Springfield; one brother: John J. Knotts of Redmond, OR and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield with Rev. Donald Meehling celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ursuline Alumni Association, 1400 N. 5th, Springfield, IL 62702.
