

Glenn Allen Rovey (77) of Farmersville, IL, passed away on January 28, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Glenn was born on April 28, 1947, in Springfield, IL, to Lester and Alberta (Goetsch) Rovey. He served in Vietnam from November 1967 to November 1968. He married Kathy M. Murphy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, IL, on June 7, 1969.
Glenn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1152, the Elks #158, a trustee for Pitman Township, and a treasurer for the Legion Post 701. Glenn farmed in the Farmersville area most of his life and worked alongside his dad, Lester, and brothers, Stanley and Leonard, in starting Rovey Seed Co., which is still operating today. Glenn continued farming and working at Rovey Seed Co. until his death.
Glenn knew no strangers and enjoyed having coffee on weekday mornings with his friends. His laugh was infectious and will forever be remembered. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s activities and spending time with his great-grandchildren. Glenn was a season ticket holder with the St. Louis Cardinals for many years. He and Kathy spent part of the winter in Florida each year. They loved family vacations, but nights spent around their fire pit at home were most treasured.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Farmersville; daughter, Elaine M. Wagner of Morrisonville; sons, Derek G. (Erica) of Auburn and Zachary A. (Christina) of Girard; nine grandchildren, Samantha (Derek) Bourke, Trevor (Charlotte) Wagner, Kellen and Jack Rovey, Blaize and Pierce Rovey, Natalie, Shelby and William Herman; three great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Grady Bourke, and Caleigh Wagner; and four brothers, Stanley (Jeanne) Rovey of Springfield, Leonard (Lynda) Rovey of Farmersville, Wayne (Catherine) Rovey of Chatham, and Dale Rovey of Girard; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 Nobbe St., Farmersville, IL 62533, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. A Prayer Service will be held before the visitation at 1:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, IL, with Rev. Emmanuel Kanga, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Farmersville with military honors.
