

She was born on September 22, 1952, in Springfield, IL.
Jeannie attended Springfield High School. She worked for Kroger and Shop ‘n Save as a meat wrapper for 44 years. Jeannie attended Pasfield Southern Baptist Church in Springfield. She loved the television show Days of Our Lives and was an avid reader, particularly of crime and mystery books. Jeannie enjoyed line dancing, baking and decorating cakes, listening to Toby Keith songs, and travelling to Oregon each year to visit her daughter and grandchildren. Her relationships with her family and friends were very important to her, especially the group she worked with at Shop ‘n Save and affectionately referred to as “The Golden Girls.” Jeannie was an independent, loving, thoughtful, devoted, and kind person.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward T. Burris; sister, Bev Haught; and grandson, Steven Downes Jr.
Jeannie is survived by her children, Bianca (Dan) Johnson of Veneta, OR; Gary Clark Jr. (Amy Brust) of Springfield; grandchildren, Aaron Downes (Shoshanna Greenberg) of Eugene, OR, and Journee and Jersee Jackson, both of Auburn; great-grandchildren, Madelynn and Sebastian Downes, both of Eugene, OR; companion of 21 years, David Las and his daughter Tiffany Las, both of Auburn; brother, Bobby Burris of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Ceremony at 11:30 a.m., with Celebrant Parian Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
