

Grace was born on June 29, 1930, the daughter of Robert T. and Ruby V. (Nelson) Lovell. She married Henry Ford Welton; he preceded her in death on September 18, 1992.
Grace attended Roxana High School. She was employed as an LPN at various nursing homes in and around Macoupin County, including Friendship Home and Weatherford Sunshine Manor. Grace attended Sherman Church of the Nazarene and later, Southern View Chapel. A caring and tender-hearted person, she enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, embroidery, knitting, walking and collecting angels. Grace loved to cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals; however, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Mildred Strunk, Sarah “Ann” Wiltshire, Iris Dix, Louetta Sunderland and Margaret Frenz; and four brothers, Frank, Bob, Dean and Don Lovell.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debra J. Weaver and Betsy L. (husband, Kenneth) Elmore, both of Springfield and Deann (husband, Jerry) Arnold of Modesto; five grandchildren; three sisters, Jessie (husband, Joe) Vidakovich of Wood River, Mary Louise Clapman of Missouri, and Sue Reilly of Belleville; one brother, Joe Lovell of Litchfield; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation care will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Ceremony: 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL 62703 with Rev. Gary Gilley officiating. A memorial gathering will follow until 5:00 p.m. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings and limiting attendance to 50 guests at one time.
