

Gregory "Bob" R. Brown, 87, of Springfield, passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at St. John's Hospital. Greg was born April 12, 1923 in Springfield, the son of Gregory and Elsie Bahlow Brown. He married Elizabeth Kramer on February 8, 1969 in Springfield. Greg graduated high school from Cathedral Boys High School and served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from CILCO after 35 years of service as a lineman. Greg was a member of the VFW, IBEW and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was an avid reader who enjoyed reading the Bible and Prayer Books, and enjoyed classical music. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Patricia Fillbright and Mary Bender; and a granddaughter, Vicki. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" of Springfield; one son, William (wife, Melinda) Brown of Puyallup, WA; two daughters, Judy Wells of Dallas, TX and Peggy Day of North Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Matthew Wells, Autumn Niles and Ambre Brown; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Olivia Rae; and one sister, Margaret Loud of Petersburg. Family will receive friends from 5:00 � 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with a prayer service to begin at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, Rev. David J. Hoefler, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
