Gwen Ogden

Gwendelyn Katherine Ogden, 91, of Springfield, died at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Gwen was born April 23, 1923 in Lafayette, IN, the daughter of John and Thelma (Barton) Koning. She married Ray Wilford Ogden on November 10, 1943 in Indiana; he preceded her in death on January 25, 2000. Gwen retired from Wilson Law firm and was an active member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed family gatherings, bunco, pinochle, dancing, tea parties, and collecting ceramic roosters and milk glass. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, John, Fred and Wayne Koning. She is survived by one son, Ray (wife, Jan) Ogden of Springfield; two daughters, Connie Lewis and Wendy (husband, Gene) Smith, all of Springfield; six grandchildren, Jodie Lewis, Kim Gillespie, Brian Lewis, Ryan Ogden, Wendy Hurrelbrink, and Amy Stensrud; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Pat Birdsell of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 10:30am-11:15am on April 13, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Memorial Service follows at 11:30am with Pastor Mary Ellen Sharp of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
