H. Wayne Russell, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 1:37 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013, at St. John's Hospital. Wayne was born March 26, 1936, in Pawnee, Illinois, the son of Cecil and Rose Squires Russell. Wayne served in locations throughout Europe during the Korean War. He retired in 2007 from the State of Illinois, Supreme Court Clerk's Office after 48 years of dedicated service. He also served as the Secretary to the Eagles Aerie 437 for many years. He is survived by his wife, Susie; daughters, Kim (Doug) Hill, Angela (Shannon) May, and Christine Salzeider; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jordan, Christopher, Ryan, Abby, Haleigh, and Nicholas; sisters, Fairy Castleman, Patsy Duffy, and Peggy (Tom) Plotner; brothers-in-law, Greg Sandidge and Lyman Reynolds; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and several sisters and brothers. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
