Harold "Harry" E. Bauer

He was born November 23, 1946, in Pocahontas, AR, the son of John E. and Georgia Ford Bauer.

Harry was employed as a systems administrator with the State of Illinois Department of Insurance. He had a lifelong passion for softball, coaching the sport and serving as an umpire for more than 30 years. An avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan, Harry enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the United States visiting and touring the Major League Baseball ballparks. During retirement, he gave back to his community by volunteering at St. Martin De Porres Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harold is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Steve) Baines of Springfield, IL and Denise Bauer (Tom Herzog) of Troy, MI; three grandchildren, Trace, Wesley and Renee Baines of Springfield; brother, John “Mike” (Vicki) Bauer of Springfield, IL; nieces, Michelle (Wayne) Piepenbrink of Kincaid and Sarah (Scott) Robinson of Springfield; and nephew, John Michael (Valerie) Bauer II of Taylorville.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 East Sangamon Avenue, Springfield with Rev. George Nellikunnel, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin De Porres Center.
