Harold D. Morrow

Harold D. Morrow, 84, of Springfield died at 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at St. John's Hospice. Harold was born July 1, 1927 in Cooper County, MO, the son of Silas Shipley and Ada Dean Taylor Morrow. He married Helen G. Weigel on February 19, 1949 in Boonville, MO. Harold graduated from Boonville High School in Boonville, MO and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver, worked on the railroad, Pillsbury Mill and Church of the Little Flower. Harold was a member of Church of St. Jude in Rochester, the K of C #4175 and Teamsters Union Local #600. He loved vegetable gardening, barbecuing, watching the Cardinals, and being a part of his family's life, especially being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Morrow. He is survived by his wife, Helen Morrow of Springfield; his six children, Rita (Larry) Davsko, Jane (Randy, deceased) Chevalier and Mike (Kay) Morrow, all of Springfield, Teri (Rod) Thompson of Jacksonville, FL, Joe (Jan) Morrow of Gurnee, IL, and Michelle (Joe) Crifasi of Springfield; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy (Hubert) Bailey and Zane (Alice) Morrow, both of Boonville, MO, Donald (Betty) Morrow of Kansas City, MO, and Larry Morrow of Columbia, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Church of St. Jude, 633 S. Walnut St., Rochester with Rev. R. Dean Probst, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
